Why The Undertaker Vs. Triple H rematch could happen at WrestleMania 28 in 2012

There is endless speculation in the air right now in regards to WWE legend, The Undertaker, who has been missing in action since his illustrious match against Triple H at WrestleMania 27 in 2011. Triple H himself was missing in action for quite some time until he recently re-emerged as the general manager of RAW. Since then, Triple H has been engrossed in a feud with long-term friend and opponent, Kevin Nash. However, while HHH himself has returned along with several other of “The Deadman’s” former rivals, Kevin ‘Diesel’ Nash and “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels; where has “The Phenom” himself been and more importantly, when will The Undertaker return and who will his WrestleMania 28 opponent be in 2012?

While in recent weeks there has been endless speculation, it seems that The Undertaker’s WrestleMania 28 opponent will actually be Triple H in a re-match from WrestleMania 27’s show stealer. But, why Triple H again and why not one of the other potential candidates? Let’s look at the facts.

The return of Masked Kane

Masked Kane recently returned to the WWE and many would argue that everything points to Kane being Undertaker’s opponent. When Undertaker returned under his original gimmick in 2004, he ended up facing Kane at WrestleMania 20 in a winning effort. Now, Kane has suddenly returned in a similar fashion under his original gimmick and that, combined with the fact that wrestling has a tendency to flow like a river with history always repeating, points to the fact that Kane would wrestle Undertaker at WrestleMania 28 in 2012, and potentially end the streak.

However, the recent re-emergence of Shawn Michaels, arguably Undertaker’s greatest opponent, as well as Kevin Nash, another of Undertaker’s greatest opponents, both of whom returned in association with Triple H, again, another of Undertaker’s greatest opponents, raises further speculation. The Undertaker has been silent during this entire ‘Kliq’ rivalry, but how long will “The Deadman” remain silent? Most likely – not for long.

The Undertaker retired Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 26, he defeated Kevin Nash under the “Diesel” moniker at WrestleMania 10 and he has defeated Triple H twice at WrestleMania, and yet, the controversial trio have all emerged once again. The feud between the kliq appears to be going somewhere, but with CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio now out of the feud, where exactly is the feud going? Your answer: WrestleMania 28, to collide with The Undertaker.

The Kliq is infamous and all three of the names, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash are all icons of said controversy. Kevin Nash is scheduled to face Triple H at TLC 2011, but what about after then? The re-emergence of Undertaker’s “Brother of Destruction” Kane could be seen as a warning, and there are many paths that such a warning could lead.

Potential paths that could lead to Undertaker vs Triple H

Firstly, the TLC match between Nash and Triple H could actually be a “work” because the Kliq are famous for this as best friends both in and outside of the ring. If this is such, this means that Nash and Triple H will have power. This could culminate in The Undertaker and Kane teaming at WrestleMania 28 agaisnt either Kevin Nash and Tripple H or even Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Who really knows?

Another route is also certainly a possibility. Kane returned on Monday Night Raw under his mask and attacked John Cena. Again, if this is a warning, Kane could potentially interfere in the Triple H and Kevin Nash ladder match at TLC and cost Triple H the match, thus starting a rivalry between Kane and Triple H, which will culminate in the feud between Triple H and The undertaker being rekindled.

Or, perhaps The Undertaker himself will appear at TLC and make the feud apparent himself, thus returning to TV for the first time in almost a year. Since WrestleMania 27, countless names have been discussed as potential opponents for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 28 including Kevin Nash, Chris Jericho, Batista, Masked Kane, Kurt angle, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bill Goldberg, Brock Lesnar and even “The Icon” Sting who, at the time of such rumours, made a shocking return and became the TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
