Common sense reasons why the world may end in 2012

Forget the idea of a mayan calendar throwing a giant meteorite at the earth or religion sending us all to burn in hell. All of that fancy stuff is the work of an over-active imagination. With 2012 approaching, there are a number of common sense reasons why the world could actually end. No funny business, no punches pulled, let's get down to the cold, hard facts.

The BP Gulf oil disaster

The major oil spill has polluted the ocean and it is still being felt today. There is no way that fish and plant life in the affected area can survive or adapt to that severe a punishment. Also, given the fact that it is an ocean, the tide will only spread the waste. There is no telling the severity of the damage caused, but this could contribute to a grim end for mankind.

The Nuclear disaster

2011 has already seen its fair share of disasters. A nuclear explosion in Japan has already started to take its toll. The nuclear pollution has began leaking into the sea and it has already made its way into Japanese food and drink. Radiation and the effects of the leak on the world are still yet to show, but this deadly energy could decimate the world if given half the chance.

Earthquakes and tsunamis

In recent years, natural disasters have been much more prominently seen. First there was the major tsunami and now, in 2011, Japan has seen a massive earthquake and tsunami and New Zealand and Australia have also seen mass floods. Even Blackpool in England has felt a minor earthquake. These things are becoming all too common over the world to be a coincidence.

Melting of the ice caps

As the world continues to heat, the ice caps continue to melt. Animals such as the polar bear will be extinct. Not only this, but the melting could also cause global flooding as the oceans get bigger. Needless to say; this is a disaster that seems inevitable at this point, it is just a matter of when.

The destruction of habitats and forests

Forests are the key to creating oxygen. They are also the source of animal life. However, countless species of animals are on the verge of becoming extinct due to the destruction of their habitats. The destruction of forests and animal habitats will not go without consequence; it will contribute to the eventual destruction of the earth.

Stop living with your head in the clouds and in a world of imagination. All of the prophecies and religious babble will not lead to any consequence in 2012. However, if the world does come to an end in 2012, it is going to be mankind's own fault. Simply take a look at the common sense reasons for world destruction and you will see that the potential of a 2012 disaster doesn't sound that far-fetched after all.
