The Deadman vs. Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania 28 in 2012, or will the WWE bring to life an Undertaker dream match?
The Undertaker is probably the most talked about superstar in the world today for a number of reasons. His illustrious match against Triple H at WrestleMania 27 was critically acclaimed but 'The Deadman' has not been seen since. The retirement of his real-life wife, Michelle McCool from the WWE subsequently raised suspicion in regards to 'The Phenom's' WWE future. Early reports stated that he was due to return to Raw at any time but recent reports state that he is considered retired.
Now, on Friday 13th May, 2011, The Undertaker resurfaced once again at a WWE press conference in Mexico when Raw superstar and mexican legend Alberto Del Rio stated that his goal in the WWE is to end The Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania.
This all but confirms that The Undertaker Vs. Alberto Del Rio will take place at WrestleMania 28 in 2012 as the WWE often hyped up matches at press conferences. However, as with always, nothing is 100 percent until the WWE or The Undertaker state otherwise, plans can change at any time.
The announcement at the presser however does seem to coincide with earlier reports that The Undertaker will return to Raw upon his WWE return.
Despite both brands having their own roster and titles, Raw is still considered the main brand within the WWE and with Taker's career winding down and his eventual retirement imminent, it seems that the WWE will want 'The Deadman' on the biggest, most exposed and most historic brand of their show, that of course being Raw and given the fact that The Undertaker is the only WWE superstar to compete on the original Raw show, it is only fitting that he returns and subsequently retires on that brand.
Of course, it seems odd that the WWE would hype Alberto Del Rio vs. The Undertaker so soon when they could quite easily capitalize on the surprise and mystique factor just as they did this year. Prior to Taker vs. HHH being announced, the WWE gained a lot of attention for potential Undertaker dream matches. The two that received the most publicity included the WWE vs. WCW dream match that would see Undertaker vs. Sting and the interpromotional square off that would see The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar.
With WrestleMania 28 seeing Undertaker's 20-0 streak on the line, it would gain a lot of media attention if they were to hype a dream match such as the aforementioned two, or even a return match such as Undertaker vs. Steve Austin or a phenom vs. Phenom match that would be Undertaker vs. Goldberg.
Alberto Del Rio may be new to the WWE, but he is not new to wrestling. He has a decade of veteran experience behind him and he is the nephew of the legendary Mil Mascaras. Aside from his wrestling prowess, Del Rio also achieved success as a mixed martial arts fighter. Therefore, if Undertaker vs. Del Rio was to happen, its not like Taker is going up against a rookie or a nobody; Del Rio has proved himself all over the world and in the WWE during his critically acclaimed tenure with the entertainment behemoth thus far.
So, has WWE confirmed Alberto Del Rio vs. The Undertaker at the Friday 13th press conference in Mexico, or is the cocky ring veteran simply using his suave charm and technique to show the world that he has a goal and a dream? With rumours of Undertaker returning to Raw and Del Rio recently drafted to Raw, it certainly seems a little too coincidental for the WWE not to go anywhere with it.

The Undertaker Vs. Sting
According to sources including an interview with Sting himself, this match very nearly happened but Sting opted to stay with TNA instead where he is the current TNA world heavyweight champion. Sting is feuding with Rob Van Dam, Hulk Hogan and Mr. Anderson at present and is scheduled to defend the TNA world title at Sacrifice against RVD on May 15th, 2011. However, Sting is famous for signing one year deals with TNA meanign that whenever WrestleMania comes around, he is essentially a free agent. Sting did not rule out the potnential of siugning with the WWE in the future, and what better than to be a part of WrestleMania 28 in 2012 against The Undertaker? This is the dream match everyone wants to see and with a card already headlined by The Rock Vs. John Cena, this would make it one of the most highly anticipated WrestleMania's ever.
The Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesnar
Prior to WrestleMania, The Undertaker was in attended to a Brock Lesnar UFC fight where he and Brock had a heated altercation afterwards. The Undertaker and Brock both refused to comment on the situation but it was expected that this would be the start of a feud between the two that would potentially lead to a deal between Dana White, the Preisdent of UFC and Vince McMahon, the owner of the WWE, that would result in The Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 27. Of course, this never came to pass. However, with Brock LEsnar's UFC career presently on hold, he could essentially ink the deal this time around while he is training to resume his career and he would have a huge cash pay out to boot. Could The Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesnar happen at WrestleMania 28 in 2012?

Del Rio is not big enough to face and to end the Undertaker's streak at Wrestlemania. We need someone who's huge to level with him.
Perhaps your citations maybe right regarding his potential opponents at WM28. It could be Austin, It could be Angle, It could be Nash, Sting or even Lesnar. But the guys that you have mentioned except Austin and Nash had already a terrible problem in with the company. Since John Cena had already Dwayne, maybe let's entertain Orton vs Taker II or Punk vs Taker.. I think these young guys are better than Del Rio. They're being groomed by the company or more challenging roles.

I think Kane will return to win the royal rumble, and? challenge for the Undertakers streak for their final showdown. And Kane ends the streak by destroying the urn. Sting is a great one for him at Wrestlemania i agree but it will never, he said that he will never join the WWE so that's out of the question.
Kane is certainly a good one, those two are always after revenge on each other and Kane did beat him back in 2010.
I'd also like to point out that The Undertaker should stay until after the 1000th episode of raw and retire after January 2013, since he he currently the only superstar that the WWE still have under contract which has been on the first episode of RAW, that is a very, very long time.

Undertaker ended shawns career. Hbk was do to put an end to his career. Either way, the undertakers streak will never be ended simply because he gave his all in 19 matches, he has been seen or heard since wm28 last night so that mint be a hintthatt he's retired. For a dream match challenger...it sounds more like a Sting match up would be possible. Just don't see Brock coming back. Brock has started to finally shed some of those hardcore UFC fans who claimed all he will ever be is a WWE wrestler.
I wish Sting would have came over awhile back...would have also been interesting to see a HBK vs Sting match!
